The Question:

Peace be upon you my honorable Skeikh. May Allah keep you dedicated to His service and grant you good health and well-being.

Honorable Sheikh, my question is the following: From time to time, strange things occur to me that I cannot find an explanation for, and I’m praying to God that you, Sir, will guide me to one. For it has to do with the heart, And God had granted you the knowledge concerning the matters of spiritual practice. 

It is as I have said that from time to time, I wake up in panic, because I can hear spoken words coming from within my heart. And I would be wide awake and certain that I’m not imagining it, and they would be words of Dhikr (praising and remembrance of God), or God’s name being spoken, or Duas (Prayers). And this usually occurs half an hour before dawn, or less time than that. When it happens, I feel as though I have no control over the words that are being spoken, as though it is coming from a different person, and I’m asking of you, Sir, to enlighten me on what might be the explanation for these instances. 

The last time this had occurred, I woke up and the voice was reciting a Dua, so does that mean that this Dua will be granted by God? And knowledge is with Allah.

May peace be upon you too.

May Almighty God reward you generously for your kind feelings and your sincere prayers, and I pray that he grants you the same.

The occurrences that you have mentioned in your message are what I pray to Almighty God to be signs of goodness and blessings, and a sign of true purity of your faith and your heart, for the heart is the focus of Almighty God’s gaze as He had said:-

{The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit * except him who comes before God with a pure heart} [Sura Al Shuara 88 – 89].

And our Master the Prophet peace and prayers be upon him and his honorable family and companions:-

(God does not look at your figures, nor at your attire but He looks at your hearts and deeds) Al Imam Muslim Al-Munim May God reward him.

And this kind of instance may occur to some of the believers as glad tidings for them and to solidify their hearts. And it occurs continuously to those of a high spiritual state with hearts that are in constant remembrance of God.

I pray that Allah Almighty make you one of them and grant all of us the constancy to stay on the path of His pleasure.

And Allah Almighty blessed be His name knows best.
